Index Okinawa has started to provide ‘Remote Location Back-up Service’ for ‘A＆H Digital Service Company., Ltd’.

Index Okinawa is making use of special attributes of Okinawa to provide safety and secure back-up service.

Index Okinawa　Corporation, (President: Mr. Tomoaki Kurita, Head Office location: Urasoe-shi Okinawa, in short: Index　Okinawa)　is making use of the Data Center facilities of First Riding Technology Inc. (President: Mr. Inekazu Uehara, Office Location: Urasoe-shi, Okinawa) to provide Managed Hosting service, Managed Housing Service and other various types of services to different industries in other parts of Japan.

Index Okinawa has constructed a ‘Remote Location Data Back-up System’ connected approximately 1,100 km away from the Center of ‘A＆H Digital Service Co., Limited’ (Representative: Mr. Toshiaki Motoni, Head Office: Takamatsu-shi, Kagawa, in short: Remote Location Back-up System). This system is in operation with effect from 1 September 2007.

A＆Ｈ Digital Service is providing non-stop high speed broad band Internet service for 24 hours for residential use. It is vital support for them to have a strong infrastructure in order to provide and maintain this continuous service to their customers. In order to ensure the continuity of A＆H business operation, strengthen IT infra-structure and takes measures against any disasters, there is necessary to construct a remote location back-up system to maintain all the important data. A＆H has chosen Okinawa which is 1100 km away from A＆H to have this back up system constructed as it is the least earthquake location in Japan geographically

Use of Remote Data Back-up Solution for System Construction

The remote location back-up system of A＆H digital Service is using the strategic server which is connected by WAN between A＆H site and site in Okinawa. There is a reproduction of data between the 2 remote locations and in the event of emergency, the data at the site not affected by disaster can be reused and system will be used for the construction of new system.

This system will have NAS installed to transfer replicating data to be the 2 sites.

With this system constructed, even if there is any problem occurred with the system, there will be minimum impact with the data saved in file server and data base server as they have been in the back up system automatically.

The importance of BCP /BCM IT have played an important role in today’s business environment, and in the event that emergency occurs, the damages of IT system during the disaster resulted in lost of data will affect the economic situation and might be difficult to be recovered which may eventually affect the continuity of business operation as well. Thus business continuity needs to combine good decision making and the protection of data during business planning.

Constructing of disaster recovery system will incur high cost generally. However the cost can be relatively lower if customer prioritized to improve the level of data protection as a higher priority in business planning.
