Index Okinawa has obtained ‘Privacy Mark’ Certification.

Index Okinawa Corporation, (President: Mr. Tomoaki Kurita, Head Office location: Urasoe-shi Okinawa, in short: Index Okinawa) the company who started mobile related business, and thereafter developed operations into Data-Center and Customer Service Contact Center, and expanded from Okinawa to the rest of Japan, has obtained ‘Privacy Mark’ certification from ‘Japan Information Processing Development Corporation (JIPDEC)’ on 26 May 2008.

‘Privacy Marks’ System Companies whom have obtained ‘Privacy Marks’ Certification are equipped with the knowledge to handle and protect Personal Information. They comply with the JIS standards (JIS Q 15001) set by JIPDEC with regards to use, maintain and protect all personal information available. Companies can disclose their ‘Privacy Mark’ certification in their information system business.

Index Okinawa has been working hard and received this certification as we have been enhancing and protecting Personal information from 1 April 2005. We have also developed a deep understanding of the importance of the Privacy theme and our organization have started to unite together to build Personal Information Management system.

Current Situation of Certified Privacy Marks Companies

There are a total of 9,547 certified companies in Japan and in Okinawa, there are 50 companies including Index Okinawa Corporation. The latest JIS 2006 publication records showed that we are one of the 20 companies that comply with JIS standards.

Future activities for Security of Information

Besides obtaining Privacy Mark for the purpose of protecting personal information strictly, Index Okinawa strongly emphasizes security measures when handling personal information. We are aiming and working toward qualifying for InformationSecurities Management System (ISMS) certification in 2008.
